Dear Baby Howell,
So now that we know you are girl your father and I began thinking about a name for you. I thought that it would be a very difficult task. On our drive back from Birmingham to Montgomery we began talking about it. We ran through a few names but one just kept sticking out to us. We knew we both liked it and for it's time it is not real popular name. So we did it, we even shook on it-we decided to call you Harper. Now the middle name will be decided later because we just can't come to an agreement on that.

Dear Baby Howell,
Today is the day!!!
Tonight was your revealing party. We will finally learned what you are! We headed to a restaurant called Brocks it is at the hotel Ross Bridge. We had the dinner in a private dining dining room. All the family was there. We had dinner and the cupcakes for dessert. Everyone was anxious the entire time and hurried through dinner because I would not let anyone peek into the cupcake until we were finished with dinner. I made sure everyone had a cupcake and at the same time we all bit into it...and as you know...the center was PINK!!! Your Gram screamed so loud I though we were going to be kicked out. Your father said something like he has a sudden hatred for teenage boys.We are all just overly ecstatic that you are girl. The first girl granbaby. You will be spoiled!

Your Aunt Chelsea made a sign for us that said It's a GIRL! We cannot wait to meet you.

Dear Baby Howell,
Today we went to the doctor. It was a very exciting appointment because the doctor was able to tell if you are a boy or a girl. Even though it is really tough your father and I do not want to know yet so we had the nurse put your ultra sound picture in an envelop for us. Your Grandmother, Aunt Chelsea and I took the envelop to a wonderful bakery in Homewood, AL called Dreamcakes. It was very difficult not to open the envelop on the way there because we were just so excited to find out what you are, but we made it to the bakery without peeking. So the only people who know what you are right now is the baker, the nurse and the doctor.

The baker is going to bake us cupcakes and the middle of the cupcakes will be filled with either blue or pink icing, depending on what you are. On Friday night the entire family will all find out together at a revealing party if you are boy or girl by all biting into the cupcake at the same time.

I am convinced you are a boy and so is my family. Your Father's family and Chelsea's boyfriend Nick are convinced you are girl. But we will have to wait and see on Friday!

Dear Baby Howell,
What another special and exciting day. Today we told your Father's side of the family. Your Grandmother, Great Grandmother Betty and uncle Bryan came down to visit us for a BBQ at our house. We told each of them by giving them individualized special gifts. We gave your Grandmother and Uncle Bryan a bib and gave your Great Grandmother Betty a book. Your Grandmother opened hers first. She read Grandma on the bib and said out loud "Grandma, why Grandma, wait, are you trying to tell us something?" I said "yes" then she began jumping and gave me and your Father a huge hug. Your Great Grandmother was so surprised and so was your Uncle Bryan. I'm not sure if your Great Grandma Betty was more in shock about us being pregnant with you or that she is gaining a new title, "Great Grandma" She said, "man I'm old."

We have your Uncle George, Aunt Robyn and cousins, Caleb and Nick left to tell. Since they live so far away, we will have think of a special way to tell them!

Dear Baby Howell,
What an exciting day! My side of the family came down to visit us for your Pa's Birthday. We told your Gram and Pa as well as your Aunt Chelsea, Great Grandma Dybvig and your Great Uncle Mark about us being pregnant with you. They are all super excited. We told each of them by individually wrapping a special gift for each of them and they got to open them all at one time. Your Gram, Pa and Aunt Chelsea each was given a bib, your Great Grandmother received a book for Great Grand Mothers and we gave your Great Uncle a onsie that I wrote on- I ♥ My Great Uncle. Your Gram saw hers first and she screamed and jumped up and down. Everyone else is equally excited as your Gram just she wins the award for showing it the most. Tomorrow we are going to tell your Father's side of the family, your other Grandmother, Great Grandmother and uncle Bryan.  I know they will be so excited for us too.

Dear Baby Howell,
Well today was the day, we had a doctors appointment and ultra sound at 11:20am. We got to see your tiny heartbeat. It was a healthy 125! What an amazing and emotional feeling to hear and see your heartbeat for the first time. We are also so relieved the heartbeat was so healthy.
Today, we also learned that there are two of you in there. But sadly, the second baby is probably not going to make it. But no worries, this will not effect you at all, the doctor has assured us. It is quite common to start out with twins and then lose one, it is called the disappearing twin syndrome. In fact, the doctor told us had we had your ultrasound a little later, we probably would not have even seen the second baby.
I go back to the doctor in two weeks for another ultrasound and to see the doctor. I look forward to being able to see and hear your heartbeat again!

Dear Baby Howell,
Since your father and I both have off the 4th of July from work today, rather than joining in on the holiday festivities, we spent the day getting ready for you, which was more fun anyhow. I told your father yesterday that I wanted to start clearing out the guest bedroom for the transformation into a nursery. The first thing we did is move the guest bed out and put it in the office. Your father got really mad because once we got the bed apart we could not get it back together. So now we are looking for a day bed or futon to put in the office so our family will have a place to sleep when they come visit you. We have pretty much cleared out the closet to make room for your clothes and baby stuff to come. The nursery still has a long way to go before it is ready for you but we are working on it daily.
